Constable Mark Herman's Office reports that 35-year-old ELIZABETH JONE WILSON (pictured), was arrested after she left a dog in a hot car while she was shopping.
According to the office’s press release, on July 20, 2025, deputy Graham responded to a Costco parking lot in the 26900 block of Northwest Freeway after receiving a report of a dog left in a non-running vehicle during extreme heat.
On arrival, deputy Graham located the vehicle with a Chihuahua inside, “visibly panting and drooling”, stated the release. The temperature outside was approximately 95 degrees, and deputy Graham reported that the interior of the vehicle felt even hotter.
Deputy Graham’s attempts to track down the owner of the vehicle were unsuccessful. WILSON took her sweet time to show up, as according to the release she returned “over an hour later.”
Deputy Graham questioned her about the dog whom she admitted to leaving in the vehicle while she shopped.
WILSON was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for animal cruelty. Her bond was set at $100.00.
Constable Mark Herman expressed his gratitude to the alert citizen who reported this and to his deputies who acted swiftly. “Together, we protect the most vulnerable”, he said.
