DONALD CLIFFORD GOLDEN accused of killing a puppy by “blunt force trauma” to his/her head

- Illinois, USA -

On Monday, November 22, Morrison Police arrested 30-years-old DONALD CLIFFORD GOLDEN (pictured below) following an investigation into the death of an innocent puppy.

The victim, a 4-month-old American Eskimo named Dakota, was found on November 3, at GOLDEN’s home on 407 Portland Avenue in Morrison.

Shaw Local reports that another resident returned to the home to find Dakota dead in his/her bed.

Morrison Police Chief Brian Melton explained that a necropsy showed Dakota died from “compression and displacement of the brain by subdural hemorrhage, caused by blunt force trauma to the head.”

GOLDEN, of Morrison, was charged with animal cruelty (Class A Misdemeanor) but Chief Melton said the investigation continues, and depending on the outcome, GOLDEN may yet be charged with a felony.

GOLDEN was transported to the Whiteside County Jail and released on a notice to appear in Whiteside County Court on January 10, 2022.

The murderer faces up to only a year in jail.

Whiteside County Animal Control and the University of Illinois, Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, College of Veterinary Medicine are assisting in the investigation.
