DEMONTRAE BECK will be charged with 15 counts of cruelty to non-livestock animals

- Grimes County, Texas, USA -

A video went viral on social media showing many dogs on a private property near Plantersville who were chained to trees abandoned in a wooded area, with no food and water.

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Harris County Animal Cruelty Task Force removed a total of 15 dogs on Friday, September 20.

The dogs’ condition indicate that they have been abused and used for fighting.

The ‘owner’ of these poor furbabies has been identified as 27-year-old DEMONTRAE BECK.

A judge ruled that his ownership was to be given to the Houston Humane Society and now the accused has 21 days to appeal.

BECK will be charged with 15 counts of class A misdemeanor cruelty to non-livestock animals.

KBTX-TV reports that officials say they already dealt with the accused a year ago.

Grimes County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Daniel Wagnon said: “The dogs were nowhere near this condition and after multiple checks from deputies the dogs [were] not in a condition that a judge would seize.”

KHOU reports that the medical director of the Houston Humane Society, Dr.Tony Malone, has been assessing and treating all the dogs and pointing to their wounds, he said it was clear they had been used for fighting.

The investigation is ongoing.
