Defenseless ewe mercilessly tortured and shot to death in Terry County – Four juveniles in custody

- Texas, USA -

Four juveniles, 16 and under, are accused of breaking into the Terry County Show Barn on the night of Friday, January 14, and taking an ewe (female sheep), after letting all the animals out of their pens.

The innocent ewe was then abused and shot to death.

Terry County Sheriff Timothy Click said the murderers, whose names will not be released to the public, have been turned over to the Juvenile Probation Office.

On Friday night, a parent went into the Show Barn around 9:45 to check on their animals and feed. At that time, everything seemed normal.

Ten minutes later, when another parent went in, they discovered “doors wide open, with pigs, sheep, and goats roaming around”, reports KWTX.

Michael Tackitt, who is a volunteer for the stock show, said it’s dangerous to have the animals loose “because pigs fight each other.”

Once the goats and pigs were rounded up, Mr. Tackitt noticed his 6-year-old son’s ewe was missing. He went looking for her on Saturday morning fearful that she had frozen to death or been attacked by other animals.

Mr. Tackitt eventually found his son’s ewe in the northwest corner of the cemetery.

The poor soul had been shot multiple times with a BB gun and she had pellets under her skin. “Her ears had been cut off and she had been shot multiple times with expanded copper slugs from a shotgun. Her jaw had been blown off and her lungs were blown out by a second shot to her chest. She was left in that spot overnight”, reports KWTX.

According to KWTX, Tackitt said: “People don’t realize how much value these animals have to us. Hundreds of dollars in feed and supplements every month. Would have had dozens of babies that would have been sold to make money. A huge loss. Just a terrible thing to do.”

Tackitt believes that what happened on Friday was an escalation of vandalism that started the night before when these teens are believed to have torn down flags and sprayed fire extinguisher dust all over the barn.

KWTX reports that officers were able to identify the suspect based on the weapons involved and on previous incidents.

The ‘value’ of this precious soul should not only be compared monetarily. She was a living breathing soul who was with so much more than $$$! I pray the four juvenile stains on humanity will not be slapped on the wrist & told “no no! bad children!” They need real punishment or else we will be reading about their cruelty again. RIP POOR BABY.
