An investigation into a video that circulated on social media showing a male striking a dog with a blunt object led to the arrest of 24-years-old DANIEL ALEJANDRO MENDOZA (pictured).
Investigators with the Laredo Police Department Crimes Against Property Unit identified MENDOZA as the male seen in the sickening video striking the defenseless dog.
They further learned that the object used by MENDOZA to strike the furbaby “was a metal shower curtain rod”, said the Laredo Police Department in a news release.
Police said this animal cruelty case was presented to the District Attorney’s Office, which found sufficient probable cause to charge MENDOZA with cruelty to non-livestock animal torture felony of the 3rd degree.
MENDOZA was arrested on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, and taken to the Webb County Jail.

Officer Espinoza kindly got back to me.
In an email he said: “Unfortunately, I do not have the dog's information due to it being a stray dog. The video of Mendoza went viral on Facebook and Police Investigators generated a case on this individual that was seen striking the dog. I really hope the dog is doing well. I do not have a picture of the dog, only what was shown in the video.”
