CYNTHIA K. TEMPLE-COLBURN guilty of animal cruelty for dragging a dog behind a car who later died

The Ross County Humane Society, in conjunction with the Ross County Dog Warden’s office announced that for the first time in Ross County, a case of felony animal cruelty was successfully prosecuted.
On Tuesday, February 8, CYNTHIA K. TEMPLE-COLBURN, appeared before Judge Matthew Schmidt in Ross County Court of Common Pleas where she was found guilty on charges of fifth-degree felony cruelty to animals and first-degree misdemeanor cruelty to animals.
TEMPLE-COLBURN, of Waverly, is accused of knowingly dragging a helpless dog behind a vehicle back in July 2021.
According to a press release by the Ross County Humane Society, on the evening of July 6, 2021, Ross County Humane Society staff was contacted regarding a dog who had been dragged alongside and behind a car for at least one mile.
The furbaby, a 1–2-year-old female mixed breed, was taken to North Fork Animal Clinic in Chillicothe to be stabilized.
A veterinary evaluation revealed that the dog, later named Blake by the Humane Society staff, had suffered multiple severe injuries consistent with the claim of dragging the dog behind a vehicle. Blake also had a large open wound on her abdomen. Her toes and paw pads were damaged to the point that they were missing and bleeding. Additionally, Blake had abrasions and swelling to the head and face, along with a large amount of road rash.
The following day, North Fork Animal Clinic contacted the Humane Society to transport Blake to Ohio State University Veterinary Clinic for further evaluation and treatment that the clinic could not provide locally.
Sadly, the same very day, the Ross County Humane Society posted the devastating news announcing that Blake had passed away from her injuries.
The Scioto Post reported Blake was euthanized after vets said that she would have a poor quality of life if healed.
TEMPLE-COLBURN will be back in court on March 24, 2022, for sentencing.
Imagine if we had a worldwide law in relation to animal welfare that subjected animal abusers to experience the same suffering they inflicted on their victims.
TEMPLE-COLBURN could be dragged behind a car to the extent that she would have to be euthanized.

I feel so helpless, yet, I honestly have to admit I don't think I'd be strong enough to handle volunteering to rescue and help these animals. I don't think my heart could handle it.......it has to be so incredibly difficult to see this cruelty first hand, as much as they do.
