- El Paso County, Colorado, USA -
In mid-September, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region Animal Law Enforcement division was called to a home about a cat found dead in a bedroom.
Sgt. Joseph Langford interviewed the woman who made the call, and her son, 18-year-old COHEN HEATH. The deceased cat was found in his room.
During the investigation, HEATH told investigators that he was on meth and the voices in his head were telling him to kill his mom, and his friend who had stayed at his house overnight.
HEATH went on to say at the end he decided to kill his mother’s cat.
The furbaby was mutilated.
The details are horrifying, and I leave at your discretion the decision to read them in the article.
Heath was arrested and taken to the El Paso County Jail.
He posted bond on October 2 and is facing felony charges of aggravated cruelty to animals.
Heath’s punishment could include a fine between $1,000 and $100,000, one year mandatory parole and mandatory confinement or home detention that could last between 90 days and 18 months.
