A series of distressing events led to the arrest of 33-year-old BRUCE ANTHONY SAUNDERS (pictured below).
It all started on June 6, when Ogden Police were called about SAUNDERS who had cut off his fingers.
Police were denied entry into the property and left.
The following day, SAUNDERS’ girlfriend called 911 thinking SAUNDERS was dead after discovering a large amount of blood in the apartment.
When officers went back, they found a disemboweled dog and cat inside a bathtub and a bloody baseball bat nearby.
SAUNDERS told them he had “chopped up” the animals and “ate their hearts.”
Fox 13 reports that “An investigation by the Utah Veterinary Diagnostic Lab showed the dog and cat had received multiple amounts of lacerations and injuries.”
Deseret News reports that a warrant was issued on Tuesday, October 6, for the arrest of this sick and evil subject.
Investigators say in charging documents that SAUNDERS “is currently a transient” and “has been reported hiding in the woods but has yet to be found by police after searching for him.”
Standard-Examiner reports SAUNDERS has been arrested on Tuesday afternoon.
Just two hours after the arrest warrant had been signed.
This monster was charged with two counts of third-degree felony torture of a companion animal and one count of class A criminal mischief.
SAUNDERS was held in lieu of $12,500 bail pending his first court appearance.
Court records show SAUNDERS' ex-girlfriend obtained a protective order against him on July 17.
