Brave woman with a big heart rescues koala from Australia bushfire

- New South Wales, Australia -

On Wednesday, November 20, an angel on earth spotted a helpless koala crawling through the bushfires devastating Port Macquarie and quickly stepped in to rescue him.

Ms. Toni Doherty rushed out of her car and took off her shirt to cover him.

She then poured water all over the baby’s body who in the video can be heard crying in pain.

Toni named the koala Lewis, after one of her seven grandchildren.

Lewis is in the care of Port Macquarie Koala Hospital and is being treated for severe burns.

He was bandaged and given antibiotics.

The bad news is that Lewis only has a 50-50 chance of survival.

If he survives, the road to recovery will still be very long as his hands and feet are completely burnt.

Lewis also has burns on his stomach, chest, nose, and is badly singed all over his body.

Many thanks to Toni who did not think twice about saving this precious life.
