The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 64-year-old BEVERLY DENISE SASBERRY (pictured).
According to the sheriff’s office, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, “a couple watched as a red Honda Accord purposely drive over a group of baby ducklings on Tempest Street on the Westside, turning her vehicle around multiple times to hit them.”
A few days later, the couple confronted SASBERRY who told them that she intentionally killed the ducklings because she was upset that they made a mess in her yard.
Thankfully, the couple reported the incident to the sheriff’s office and shared surveillance video of SASBERRY driving over the Muscovy ducks.
Part of the video depicted numerous ducklings lying in the street, with the mother duck as they run in attempt to escape the vehicle as it comes back around.
Deputies pulled SASBERRY over on April 30, 2026, and placed her under arrest. She was charged with eleven felony counts of cruelty to animals.
At the time of writing, online arrest records show that SASBERRY was released on May 1, 2026.
