Walker County authorities arrested 56-year-old BELINDA RODRIGUEZ and 47-year-old RAUL RODRIGUEZ (both pictured), following a welfare check conducted by Walker County Animal Control Officers.
ACO received a complaint regarding horses who appeared to be malnourished at a property on 44 Manor Lane outside of Rossville and responded to investigate.
On the property, Officers discovered multiple animals, including chickens, donkeys, goats, horses, mini-horses, pigs, and rabbits. Officers reported that some of the animals were emaciated and were not provided with enough feed to sustain a healthy body weight. They further reported that some of the animals had open leg wounds, inflamed skin, and were missing fur.
A veterinarian was called in to evaluate the Voiceless Victims and determined that some of them were in pain and the conditions they were suffering from were due to neglect. According to the veterinarian, the RODRIGUEZES had failed to provide the proper upkeep required of livestock.
The pair surrendered all of the animals who were removed by ACO. Those who were in the most severe condition were placed in the care of TMMA Farms & Sanctuary in Trion for treatment, while the others are being taken care of by a livestock rescue.
BELINDA RODRIGUEZ was charged with eleven counts of cruelty to animals and RAUL RODRIGUEZ is facing twelve counts of cruelty to animals.
