The Niles Police Department arrested 47-year-old ASHLEY NICOLE SIX (pictured below).

Six was charged with five misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals.

The charges refer to an investigation into five dogs who were found abandoned in May 2021, at a home on 422 West Third Street.

According to police, SIX moved out of the property and left behind the helpless souls in deplorable conditions.

On May 19, 2021, police were alerted by the Niles Fire Department to a bad smell emanating from the home.

Officers found floors covered with feces and unknown liquids. Trash was scattered over the floors upstairs and there were also many flies throughout the place that were affecting their visibility.

Captain John Marshall, at Niles Police Department, told WKBN: “It’s a miracle that those dogs survived.”

He then added: “There appeared to be a torn open bag of dog food in the kitchen, and there was some flooding in the basement that I assume was probably their water source.”

Back in May WKBN reported: “The five dogs that were discovered inside the home are now being cared for by a family member of the former tenants.”

Tribune Chronicle reports that SIX was arrested on Thursday, June 10, following a traffic stop at 140 W. Park Avenue.

Online records show SIX was booked into the Trumbull County Jail and then released after posting a $10,000 bond.

The following day, SIX was arraigned in Niles Municipal Court.

She pleaded not guilty to the charges and is expected to be back in court in the morning of June 21, for a pretrial hearing.
