ANTHONY CONEALL PEW SR. and his son ANTHONY CONEALL PEW JR. arrested in connection with dogfighting

- Florida, USA -

On Thursday, April 7, Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno held a press conference to announce an update regarding an Animal Cruelty Task Force Investigation which began last week after tips came in from the community.

The sheriff’s office Public Information Officer, Sergeant Chris Fine, Investigators from the East District Criminal Investigation Unit and the Animal Cruelty Task Force were also present.

Sheriff Marceno recounted that on March 30, detectives responded to a home on West 9th Street in Lehigh Acres where they found several dogs with extensive injuries and evidence of possible dogfighting.

The investigation led detectives to another home on Aspen Avenue South in Lehigh Acres where they discovered more of the same.

The dogs were being kept in deplorable conditions, locked in cages filled with urine and feces.

Many were found malnourished and had open wounds.

Several pieces of equipment were found in the homes detectives say were consistent with use in dogfighting, such as treadmills used to build muscles.

A total of 16 dogs were removed from both sites. The VOICELESS VICTIMS were treated by the veterinarians at Lee County Domestic Animal Services who documented injuries consistent with dogfighting. “At this point all the dogs are alive but several require constant medical care,” said Sheriff Marceno.

In connection with this case detectives have arrested 31-years-old ANTHONY CONEALL PEW JR. and his father 58-years-old ANTHONY CONEALL PEW SR. (both pictured).

Sheriff Marceno said both father and son were charged with multiple counts of dogfighting and baiting as well as animal cruelty, all felonies.

Online records show they were booked into the county jail on the early morning of Thursday, April 7, and were released a few hours later.

After announcing the charges Sheriff Marceno said: “It appears the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”

He then said: “Unfortunately, because it’s illegal, I can’t treat these two disgusting humans the way they treated these dogs. My jail is far cleaner and safer. It sickens me that we’re still investigating these cases and I will continue to dedicate any and all resources combating animal cruelty. My message could not be more clear. If you are committing any crime on an animal , my team will investigate you, we will hunt you down and take you to jail. The Marceno Motel is open. It’s always has vacancies for low lives like this.”

According to WINK, officials also removed pigs and chickens from the homes.

Both father and son are expected back in court in May, 2022.

Reporters with WINK asked Sheriff Marceno whether there is anyone else who might be involved in this dogfighting operation and he said there is still plenty more to look at, as this is an active investigation.

So many profanities, not enough space…I want to use to describe both these sadistic cowardly creatures! Many thanks to Sheriff Carmine Marceno for rescuing these Precious Souls. I love that the Motel Marceno is always open to pathetic losers like the twisted senior & his equally bent son! I pray these two receive their due punishment here on earth, & I relish in the fact HELL also has occupancy awaiting them with a VIP reservation. PLEASE GET BETTER PITTIES!
