Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested 51-year-old ANGELA JEANNINE SHUBERT (pictured below), on 11 counts of felony animal cruelty.
On Wednesday afternoon, February 19, following a tip, deputies responded to a property in the 5600 block of Lead St. in Golden Valley about an animal welfare check.
Deputies discovered several small enclosures made with posts and a single wire strand.
They also found one deceased horse, and ten living horses.
Three of them were in a severe state of malnutrition, and the others were in various stages of emaciation.
Buckets were empty without food or water.
SHUBERT was not present while deputies were there.
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office wrote in their Facebook post that a search warrant was drafted and executed by detectives on Thursday, February 20.
SHUBERT was then arrested and taken into custody.
The local horse rescue, Caring Hearts for Horses removed the ten horses from the premises, and they will be examined by a veterinarian.
I have checked the nonprofit Facebook page for updates on these stunning animals.
The organization wrote that when they were called to assist with the removal of the horses, although it was not possible to put them in their shelter, they arranged for wonderful people to foster for the county while the case is in court.
The shelter added an important information, if the horses are not awarded back to SHUBERT, the fosters will have the ability to take full responsibility for the horses as their own to do as chosen.
Thank you all for saving these horses.
