AARON TRENT STACHMUS and BRYSON JACOB ANGLIN had 168 animals removed from their farm in April

- Oklahoma, USA -

On April 12, the Norman Police Department, a Norman Animal Welfare Officer, and the Oklahoma game warden, executed a search warrant on a property in the 5700 block of E. Robinson Street in Norman and seized 168 animals who were found in need of immediate care.

Among the animals seized from the property were African tortoise hatchlings, chickens, ducks, emu, French Bulldogs, hairless cats, draft horses, ostriches, ostrich chicks, parrots, pigs, tortoises, and sugar gliders.

Authorities said that the animals removed were being kept without adequate food, shelter, and veterinary care.

Officials also found two macaws missing feathers and without access to food or water, 30-40 baby chickens in a crowded space without food or water and two draft horses each missing one eye.

Norman Police Lieutenant Ali Jaffery said that the animals who were “in good health and being cared for” were left on the property.

The owner of the property, 42-year-old AARON TRENT STACHMUS (pictured), a veterinarian, is not new to some of you.

In July 2021, in fact, Voice For Us brought to you a case in which STACHMUS and his husband, 32-year-old BRYSON JACOB ANGLIN (also pictured), were charged with animal cruelty after around 354 of domestic and exotic animals were found severely malnourished and removed from their farm.

For the 2021 charges, STACHMUS and ANGLIN pleaded not guilty and will be back in court for a preliminary hearing sometime this month.

As for the search warrant executed in April, the City of Norman put in a bond hearing application to cover the costs of boarding the seized animals and giving them needed care.

In relation to the April’s seizure, the Norman Police Department has not yet presented charges and the investigation is ongoing.
