A Montague County couple are devastated after someone killed their prized steer longhorn

- Montague County, Texas, USA -

A 13-year-old longhorn has been killed and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley demand answers.

They believe their Bud was shot Tuesday, January 21, between midnight and 1:00 a.m.

It happened on Starkey Road just south of U.S. 82 between Nocona and Saint Jo.

Mr. Stanley believes that a driver must have spotted Bud from about 75 yards away and callously shot him twice.

He said that even the herd is grieving, in fact, when he found Bud, they were all gathered around him.

Mrs. Stanley said: “They just take care of one another and now one of them is gone.”

A $3,000 reward is being offered but it might increase in exchange for information leading to the identification and criminal conviction of the person(s) responsible for killing Bud.

Mr. Stanley said: “I think if it gets high enough someone’s gonna squeak.”

So, if anyone has any information regarding this heinous crime please squeak up!

Give Bud a voice. Call the Montague County Sheriff’s Department at 940-894-2871.

Thank you!
