~ Update: May 11, 2022
I have heard back from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office and I learned that “The Pierce County Animal Control Officers under the Sheriff’s Department are investigating. The case is still active and no charges have been filed at this time.”
A further email to Voice For Us stated: “Once the investigation is complete the Animal Control Officer will present the case to the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office for potential charges. The owners will have the ability to schedule a hearing to get their animals back if they choose to do so.”
~ Original story:
As part of an ongoing animal cruelty investigation, the Pierce County Animal Control removed 13 Pitbulls from a home in Eatonville on Monday, May 9.
The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County said in a Facebook post that their “vet is currently evaluating the dogs for medical concerns.”
The furbabies, who range in age from 7 months to 4 years, were found covered in dirt and feces. Several of them have facial scarring and others are suffering from eye issues and infections.
The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County took in the dogs, but the shelter is already at full capacity.
The shelter is reaching out to the community for donations and is encouraging those who can foster/adopt to get in touch with them.
Please, visit their website to see how you can help. Thank you!
Additional details have not been released and at this point it’s unknown whether charges have been filed in the case.
I have emailed the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, Animal Control, and the Eatonville Police Department to inquire about who is conducting the investigation and most importantly about whether charges have been filed.
I will post an update if I get a response.
